Market Recent Average Valuation (MRAV)

Market Recent Average Valuation (MRAV) is a metric used to estimate the current value of a limited item after its original stock has sold out.

Once an item is no longer being sold, MRAV becomes the primary way to understand its fair market value based on real user activity.

How MRAV Works

MRAV is calculated using recent marketplace activity, including:

  • Completed sales between users

  • Trade values involving the item

  • Listing and purchase trends over time

Instead of relying on a single sale, MRAV looks at multiple recent transactions to create a more stable and accurate valuation.

Why MRAV Matters

  • Establishes Value: Helps users understand what an item is realistically worth

  • Prevents Manipulation: Reduces the impact of one-off overpriced or underpriced sales

  • Supports Trading: Gives a baseline for fair trades between users

  • Market Insight: Reflects real demand and activity in the community

MRAV vs Listing Price

  • Listing Price: The lowest current price a seller is asking

  • MRAV: The average value based on recent completed activity

An item’s listing price may be higher or lower than its MRAV depending on supply and demand.

Important Notes

  • MRAV updates over time as new sales and trades occur

  • Low activity items may have less stable MRAV values

  • Sudden spikes or drops are smoothed using recent averages

  • MRAV does not guarantee a sale price, but serves as a strong guideline

Example

If a limited item recently sold for:

  • 1,000

  • 1,200

  • 1,100

The MRAV would trend around ~1,100, reflecting the recent market behavior rather than any single outlier.
